Terms of Service — Sortie

Welcome to Sortie (“we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by LatLng LLC.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Sortie website located at sortie.guide and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.

If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

The Service is not directed to children under 13.

2. Description of the Service

Sortie is a web-based platform that enables users to create, publish, and share interactive location-based guides containing map pins, embedded TikTok videos, and related location information.

Features may include:

  • Creating guides using public TikTok URLs
  • Displaying embedded TikTok content using TikTok’s official embed tools
  • Adding custom map pins, images, and external links
  • Publishing public or private guides
  • Viewing shared guides through a web browser

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

3. Accounts and Authentication

Certain features require an account.

You may sign in using supported third-party authentication providers, including:

  • Google OAuth
  • TikTok Login Kit

When you sign in using TikTok Login Kit, we may receive limited account information such as:

  • TikTok open_id
  • display name
  • avatar URL

We use TikTok Login solely for authentication and account identity purposes unless otherwise disclosed.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and any activity occurring under it.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit to the Service, including guide titles and descriptions, TikTok URLs, custom pin data, uploaded images, and other submitted materials (“User Content”).

By submitting User Content, you grant LatLng LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute such content solely for operating and improving the Service.

You represent and warrant that:

  • you have the rights necessary to submit the content;
  • your content does not violate any law or third-party rights; and
  • you will not upload unlawful, defamatory, infringing, or harmful content.

5. Public and Private Guides

Guides may be designated as:

  • Private — viewable only by the guide owner
  • Public — viewable by anyone with the link

You understand that public guides may be shared widely and indexed or cached by third parties.

We cannot guarantee the confidentiality of content published publicly.

6. TikTok Content and Third-Party Services

The Service may display TikTok videos using TikTok’s official embed player and APIs.

TikTok content remains subject to TikTok’s own terms, policies, and availability. We do not own or host TikTok videos embedded through the Service.

The Service also relies on third-party providers including:

We are not responsible for third-party services, content, or websites.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • violate any law or regulation;
  • infringe intellectual property rights;
  • scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with the Service;
  • circumvent privacy or access controls;
  • upload malware or malicious code;
  • impersonate others;
  • use the Service to harass or harm others;
  • submit unlawful, obscene, or abusive content;
  • use automated systems to overload or abuse the platform.

We may suspend or terminate accounts violating these Terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, branding, design, and content (excluding User Content and third-party content), is owned by LatLng LLC and protected by intellectual property laws.

“Sortie” and related branding may not be used without permission.

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, contact:

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.”

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LatLng LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY.

We do not guarantee:

  • uninterrupted availability;
  • accuracy of map or location data;
  • availability of TikTok embeds;
  • security free from unauthorized access;
  • accuracy of AI-generated location suggestions.

Location information and guide content are informational only and do not constitute travel, legal, or professional advice.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LatLng LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, DATA LOSS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF:

  • USD $100; OR
  • THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PRIOR 12 MONTHS.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LatLng LLC, its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from claims arising out of your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you violated these Terms or created risk or liability.

You may stop using the Service at any time.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically.

Your continued use of the Service after updates become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts located in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
